The Origins of Belief October 2009
revruback Greetings friends and family!

My age is often an intentional focus - like the fact that "Psychic Youth" is not only the name of my book it is also a fact that 3 of us share that title on 12listen.com (one in fact is writing for the Voice of Hope this month – though both guest authors would visually qualify). Sometimes my age is an unintentional focus – like when my colleagues ask me what I was doing in my last Jupiter cycle that occurred 12 years ago and I say, "Let's see, I was 10…"

Either way, age definitely doesn't ever seem to stop mattering.  Phrases like  biological clocks and mid-life crisis' are but a few of the most common ways we are reminded of age, yet however it is introduced, it's rarely seen as neutral. Recently, a dear and older friend of mine suggested that I watch "Harold and Maude" about an "unlikely" romance between a very young man and a very old woman. Though the words "young" and "old" are used in the strictly biological sense here, it was interesting to note that this past month had the age theme dripping from every corner of my reality – even the grocery store checker recited Gertrude Stein to the elderly patron  ahead of me, " We are always the same age inside."

Further illustrating this aging theme, an innocent internet search leads me to a story about a mother who was showing her daughter how to cook a ham for their holiday dinner that night. (mind you, I was going to offer a powerful analogy referencing the Green Lantern and how the Color Yellow was believed to be his only weakness but I fear that may be too mature at this point, but do expect something very soon on this topic) After prepping it with cloves and soaking out the salt, she would cut off the very last 3 inches of meat from the back end and placed it in the pan. When the daughter asked her mother why this was so important, the mother replied, "I honestly don't know, but I got this recipe from your grandmother who made perfect hams. She'll be here later, let's remember to ask her what this little trick does."
Of course, everyone had to put in their "two cents" and they started a wager. The father bet that it allowed bitter juices to run out into the pan, thereby creating a sweeter piece of meat. The Uncle suggested that it was where the salt had collected from the preservative and its removal helped the meat turn tender.

Later that night after the delicious meal everyone was anticipating the answer so the father ceremoniously (and dramatically) asked the Grandmother this $50, 000 question, "Why do you remove that last 3 inches of meat from the ham before cooking it?" The room was silent, and the grandmother with a smile on her face said, "Oh that's because we had limited oven space and had to make the hams fit into a smaller pan so that we could cook the corn bread next to it." The room was silent. No one expected the answer to be so void of "old wisdom."

It's stories like this that evoke in me a sense of fear, albeit mild, about how much we just accept as what's so because we are told it's what's so. I hear people all the time making references to superstitions as if they are facts because they "read it on the internet" or some other perceived authority. I guess it's no different than when people pull up some biblical quote out of context to make it fit some fix belief but somehow, I have more tolerance if someone at least works to prove a theory rather than just accepting it as fact because it was told to them. Alas, I digress -

Suffice it to say that there is a difference between being young and being naïve. As a native of the "not so naïve" and charter member of the "Acting older than I am" club, I'd like to leave you with a thought for October, "We are immeasurable beings passing through a measured universe." You can use the rulers and numbers and years to remind  you of this well constructed (or is it constricted) reality but don't forget that first sentence. With that in mind, here are some age specific guidelines you may want to consider:

Over 40 and under 10: You may jump into someone's pile of leaves and laugh yourself silly.

Under 30 and over 12: You may spike, flatten, dye, spray or shave your hair with any chemical that wasn't tested on animals

Over 60- You can skip water aerobics and hit the gym with matching jogging suit of any color.

All ages: Laugh Hard

Katt and Reginald: The advantage of being an introspective "type" is that when you actually find people that you want to connect with, you can bet that they're special (at least to the introspective one). I am confident that the special traits of Katt and Reginald are pretty universal - meaning that I'm not the only one that sees their gifts. Katt is a renowned clairvoyant who draws people to her like a magnet with er compassionate wisdom and jaw-dropping accuracy. Reginald is younger than I (an accomplishment I have mixed feelings about) yet bears the wisdom of a sage years his senior. I'm blessed, and these are two perfect examples as to why.

The Month Ahead
October

with Psychic Katt

Invigorated and Inspired on the edge of this new month, I write to predict some of the hopeful happenings and emotional currents that lie ahead - as I happily kiss the summer months behind.

In place of Gloria's "I will survive," I want to exclaim, "We all have survived!" We can now look ahead with more enthusiasm and love. With the Sun in the luxurious sign of Libra, and the timely return of Mercury direct, we can be assured that our relationships will show marked improvements, and finally be brought to a place of balance and peaceful rest. Well, as long as we play fair of course. Justice is ours for the taking!

We will slowly recover from the more difficult challenges of last month, and as we approach mid month, we will be back in the swing of our more outgoing, self promoting, and energetic selves. We will be brought back to the social events that seemed much too daunting a month ago, and will be open to reveal ourselves in the company of others.

The Sun shines brightly in Libra and illuminates our inner beauty. We finally get to show off the results of the self-care we embraced over the last few months. Spending and generosity will suddenly return, and a more lighthearted feeling toward our finances will replace our previous emptiness or dread.

The sense of play and discovery gets a boost in the third week of October, but now we consider things we had never thought possible. Not wanting to risk everything, we need to put a toe in the water of exploration and feel the temperature before we dive in. It's at that point when your personal choice may differ from everyone else's and you have to trust what you know to be true - that's what I'm calling the leap of faith, and I courage you to proceed to the water's edge!

It is time to believe! It's time to put ourselves in the picture. It's time to ask, "Does this action support me?" or "Is this what I really want to do?" It's those questions that remind us that there cannot be a "WE" if we don't take care of the "I." This trick is the start of real relationship magic because it makes us first embrace ourselves and then embrace "the other."

Manifestation is particularly strong this month because of the "coupling" factor. It is the idea of the power that is created when two people join on an idea, and I encourage all of you in this last quarter to begin to manifest some of your farthest reaching hopes and dreams – as you share them with a person or people you trust to empower them.

October presents us with a chance to lift our heads from the sorting details of worry and look outward at our friends and partners and say, "Thank you for your support" because we will be getting more than we expect. The only difference is that now we can feel it, we can measure it, we can embrace it, and we can savor* it! Look for the growing awareness of desires igniting deep within you. Look for the diminishing angst created by the injected fears of others. Use the New Moon on the 17th to send off a desire so clear that there will be no mistaking it's arrival. Oh, and it will arrive! All you have to do is EXPECT IT!!!

(*I savor it so much that I ignore the fact that the sun will also move in to Scorpio at the end of the month, and I can not let go of this light heartedness for thoughts of intensity or depth!)

As Saturn leaves Virgo, we may remove our self doubt, and replace this thinking with a much more positive approach! Let's not wait!

We HAVE survived, we have confronted, and we have vetted the corridors from within our true selves with readiness and hope! We are ready to fly - but not afraid to make sure the runway is clear first - because we're worth it. Love to all of you, and MIRACLES ABOUND!!!

Embrace yourselves, embrace all others and embrace the month, and remember your broomsticks in flight..... Happy Halloween!

A Conversation with Heaven on Earth
with Reginal Lewis

Through out history and culture it has always been the shamans, the saints, the seers, the psychics, the prophets, and the mystics who only hear the voice of God. There are people in the world who live their life with the notion that heavenly experiences are reserved for a select few that are blessed or the chosen ones.

They label themselves ordinary people without realizing that there truly are no “ordinary people.”  They get caught in a reality where they forget their true unique and sacred existence in which we are all blessed ones.

We look up to the sky when heaven is here. We listen for God's booming voice from high when he's speaking to us and through us by way of our inner voice, a voice called intuition. For some this is a challenging concept that God talks to them everyday, but Shakti Gawain put it in excellent words when she said that the inner knowing we all have in our gut is the voice of the universe. We are all capable of transcending mundane existence to reach a higher awareness, to hear heaven words.

We just simply aren't aware of it. We limit ourselves. And to free ourselves we have to free our minds that hold the limitations that prevent us from real expression of the unlimited self.

Meditation is the first step to building a conscious connection with your intuition. When we meditate we direct our intention within, centering ourselves by relaxation and visualization techniques to alter our state of consciousness. Meditation brings peace to our life when it's chaotic allowing us to raise our vibration levels as commune with Spirit.

Doing so establishes a relationship between our higher self, we become more enlightened to life deeper meaning and more aware of our intuition. Your intuition operates beyond your logical mind, which always thinks in terms of either/or, yes/no. Your intuition recognizes the gray area.

It knows that there are infinite choices and paths for you, and that there is really no such thing as a wrong choice. Your intuition is messages from your soul, which may see both instead of A or B. In this case, asking A or B is irrelevant. So instead of thinking of your intuition as something that will give you a concrete yes or no, see it as more of a playful thing that can guide you in a more elusive way. Release the need for the concrete, and give yourself permission to be more playful with it.

Our intuition is our central intermediary to our higher self and the higher realities of heaven. Living from the higher self you live in a deep awareness. I find that listening to my inner guidance can save a lot of time and effort. Being goal-oriented, I used to have a tendency to move ahead without waiting for clear guidance. Many spiritual belief systems are based on humankind self-mastery. We after all are here on this earth to evolve as spiritual beings.

Life allows us to master our areas of weakness and overcome obstacles. When we are open and receptive, we are also more inclined to recognize heaven's guidance which we are given throughout the day.

The spirit of God is everywhere at all times bringing opportunity and inspiring. And that's the reason for life, to improve ourselves, grow closer to Source, the Creator, and God and experience that internal bliss. The closer we are to God, the more fulfilling we feel. We become complete. Everyday we open our hearts to the infinite love, joy, tenderness, hope, play beauty, laughter or friendship; we tend to be grounding the higher realms. And finding ourselves naturally returning to a place in our spirit that calls us back to the source allowing us to hear heaven words and create a conversation with heaven on a daily basis on earth as the conscious divine co-creators we are meant to be.
